IN THE NAVY

In the Navy
Sharp and clean, can you think of a prettier palette for mid-summer?  The blue and navy here conjure images of the sea side wedding, colorful lanterns and the indigo shades of sunset.  Thanks to Wed in the City over at SMP Style Circle for posting this great mix of pictures . . .

THE FARM CHIC BRIDE

This style harks back to the late seventies with the blouson waist, very much the craze during the disco era.  Created by Parisian designer Delphine Manivet, this easy-to-wear gown has been updated with some gorgeous lace in the skirt that  I'd love to get my hands on.  There's a real casual feeling about it perfect for the farm or country wedding.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY COCO CHANEL

C'est magnifique!
Maybe the French should declare today a national holiday!  What do you think?  Every August 5, I celebrate by wearing #5 and 5 strands of pearls.  Yes, Coco's favorite number was--you guessed it-- five!  This lovely board incorporating everything Chanel was created by Love, Paper and Ink over on SMP's Style Circle.  A big thanks for reminding us who it actually was bold enough to wear so many strands of pearls while smoking a cigarette . . .

NOVEL WAYS OF WEARING A VEIL

Want to put a new spin on an old tradition? Here are a few concepts designers put out there to inspire or wow us into thinking beyond bridal fashion's safe beige parameters.

Quasoar

While uber-poufs out of tulle and organza are making headlines, these shapes of what look like organdy and gauze sculpt differently bringing the pouf headpiece to a different level . . .

This ruched up tulle veil reminds me of headpieces found in old Flemish paintings.
On the right bride in the right gown it's a really unique touch . . .

Lastly, a salute to Audrey, in her Givenchy veil actually designed partly as a hood that flows out into a train . . .

FAIRY WONDERFUL

Have you perchance dreamed of a fairy tale wedding right down to the flower girls? Well then check these little beauties out.   Fairy Wonderful tutu dresses actually grow with your little flower girls.  This means a bevy of tulle clad flower girls have the extraordinary gift of a dream costume after the big day.  And once she outgrows it as a dress simply tuck in or remove the halter tie and ...VOILA....she now has a tutu!!!  I'm blown away by the tulle skirt color combinations and the floral arrangements on the bodice.  They also create the more modified and traditional versions of slip dresses with tulle overlays and wide satin sashes . . .

BOX CAR BRIDE

This inspiring medley comes from the talented Stephanie Briggs of Red Carpet Studios in Sacramento, California. Her concept for this shoot was inspiring and maybe you can relate to it . . . one bride and groom on a long journey.

PURPLE AND GREEN

purple and green

Check out this gorgeous combo: Purple and shades of green.  For me this spells out 'Garden Wedding', the most visual and bucolic of all events.  Thank you Belle Soiree Wedding Planning  for taking time to create and share this lovely Sunday inspiration with us . . .
